So what's your name? Mario Michael-Angelo Vigil |
What instruments do you play? I play Accordion, Keys, and I sing backup on a good day!
So who would you say are your biggest influences? My influences would be Steve Jordan and Joel Guzman. Joel produced Stampede's CD Avansando and is one of the best accordion players ever.
How long have you been performing? I have been playing for about two and a half years. I started off playing guitar when my dad brought one home and told me I had to learn to play. So I bought every book I could think of and learned to play, and later I got a job with a Mexican Regional Style band. Then my dad brought home an accordion and told me I had to learn to play it. Well I wasn't too crazy about the idea because at the time accordions weren't the cool instrument to have.
What's your favorite moment with the band and why? One of our most memorable gigs would have to be after a gig. The band and I had just performed in Dallas and headed over to Club Sweetwater’s where a Grupo Lazzo was performing. That night we meet Carisma and she has done a lot to help not only our band but also the Tejano/Conjunto Industry. She has been a good friend to everyone in the band.
If asked what can you say about your band members? If I had to describe them in one word I would have to say Pedro is the Scured one! Chris is just an idiot! Tom is the old one! Q is the crazy one! Together we make Grupo Lumbre!
